Like most Formula One drivers, Wehrlein began his racing career in karting, aged 9. He was competing in KF2 in 2009 before competing in ADAC Formel Masters the following year, winning the championship in 2011.
Pascal progressed to Formula 3 in 2012, finishing second in the Euroseries and ending the year as top rookie. A move to DTM with Mercedes in 2013 made him the youngest ever competitor in the series. He took his first victory in 2014 and also did a test session for Mercedes’ F1 team.
Becoming reserve driver for Mercedes in 2015, he continued in DTM and won the title. In February 2016, Manor confirmed Wehrlein would race for them that season.
