With Hamilton facing a five-place grid penalty, Rosberg’s chances of winning 6 in a row are increasing. However, Hamilton won’t make it easy for his teammate. Also, Ferrari were fastest in second practice and look to have once again stepped up their game to take the fight to Mercedes.
Nico Rosberg took his first pole position of the season, whilst his teammate Hamilton suffered an engine issue and failed to set a time. He will either start at the back of the grid or in the pit lane. It is going to be another tough race for the three-time champion – who already has a 17 point deficit to Rosberg in the championship.
A sixth consecutive victory for Rosberg means he extends his championship lead. Hamilton drove an impressive race from 22nd on the grid to finish 7th, despite losing his front wing on the first corner. A collision at turn one between the two Ferraris compromised their race – but Vettel managed to finish second.
