The German Grand Prix returns in Hockenheim after last year’s race was cut from the calendar. With Hamilton taking the championship lead in Hungary, he looks to extend this lead before the summer break. However Rosberg is aiming to take victory at his home grand prix, which would be enough to get back to the top of the standings. It will be all to play for between the silver arrows this weekend.
Rosberg takes pole in Hockenheim, despite a problem with the car which prevented him from completing his first lap in Q3. Losing out by just over a tenth, Hamilton made a mistake at turn 6 and locked up. However his lap was enough to take second easily, ahead of the two Red Bulls.
Hamilton extends his championship lead with a fourth consecutive win, giving him a 19 point margin over teammate Rosberg. A poor start for Nico allowed both Red Bulls to get ahead at the first corner and he was unable to get back past. He finished a disappointing 4th, ahead of Vettel and Raikkonen.
