Max Verstappen began karting at the age of 4 and, by the age of seven, he was competing in the Mini Junior Championship. In 2006 he moved up to the MiniMax Series and won the Belgian Championship. The following year, he won the Dutch series, also. He won both the Dutch and Belgian MiniMax Championship in 2008.
In 2009, he joined Team Pex Racing and won the Flemish MiniMax Championship along with the Belgian KF5 Championship. In 2010, he began racing at an international level. He won the WSK European series and world WSK Series. He came second to Alexander Albon in the KF3 World Cup. 2011 saw him win the WSK Euro series for the second time. Competing in many series in 2012, Verstappen won the WSK master series and the South Garda Winter Cup.
In 2013, Verstappen won the World Karting Championship, at just 15 years old. This was enough to give him a seat in European Formula 3 for 2014. He won his second race and, later in the season, achieved 6 wins in a row. He won the most races of anyone in the season, which was 10, and came in 3rd place overall. This success was enough for him to get a race seat in Toro Rosso for the 2015 season.
An impressive season with Toro Rosso, saw him get 49 points and some amazing driving from him lead to him being likened to the greats of the sport such as Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.
