Former Ferrari technical director, James Allison has been appointed by the world champions Mercedes. The well-respected engineer will be replacing Paddy Lowe, who recently moved to Williams, as technical director. A part of the winning Ferrari team in the early 2000s, Allison will be hoping to enjoy more success with Mercedes.

“It’s a massive privilege to be given the trust of a position in a team that has done so spectacularly well in the past three seasons…I am looking forward to playing my part in helping Mercedes go from strength to strength in the coming years.” said Allison, who left Ferrari in July.
Wolff believes he will be the perfect replacement for the departing Paddy Lowe, as Mercedes dominance comes under threat in the new season to come.
Mercedes will be revealing their 2017 title challenger on 23rd February at Silverstone, with their new driver pairing of Hamilton and Bottas. Full car launch schedule here.
