He said that it is a “Shame it didn’t work out…but I’ll never give up on the dream” He is hoping to return to racing next year, after spending the year as a reserve driver for McLaren. There are still chances for him to be racing in Formula One next year.
Magnussen impressed at his F1 debut in Australia in 2014, getting a podium finish. However, with Alonso joining the team for 2015, he was dropped by the team and instead took on the role as test and reserve driver. As both Alonso and Button have been confirmed for next year, there was no opportunity for him to race for McLaren in 2016. Although, his dreams of a return to F1 racing are not over as Manor, Haas and Renault all have free race seats for next year.
