Pre-Season Test 2, Day 3

March 3, 2016

Ferrari were fastest in the penultimate day of pre-season testing. After completing just 1 lap yesterday, Haas had a much better session today, completing 77 laps, despite bringing the red flag out 3 times. Verstappen completed the most laps of anyone, on 159, whilst Mercedes had another trouble-free day.

Results:

  1. Raikkonen – 1:22.765, 136 laps
  2. Massa – 1:23.193, 119 laps
  3. Hulkenberg – 1:23.251, 137 laps
  4. Verstappen – 1:23.382, 159 laps
  5. Rosberg – 1:24.126, 81 laps
  6. Nasr – 1:24.760, 116 laps
  7. Alonso – 1:24.870, 118 laps
  8. Wehrlein – 1:24.913, 46 laps
  9. Kvyat – 1:25.141, 119 laps
  10. Palmer – 1:26.224, 97 laps
  11. Hamilton – 1:26.488, 62 laps
  12. Grosjean – 1:27.196, 77 laps

Raikkonen put Ferrari on top of the timesheet once again, with a 1:22.765 on the ultra-soft tyre. Second-placed Massa set a brilliant time on the soft tyres, just 4 tenths off Kimi. Also setting times on the ultra-soft tyres were Hulkenberg and Verstappen, who were 3rd and 4th respectively. Toro Rosso’s Verstappen completed the most laps of anybody and 16 more than the 2 Mercedes drivers put together.

Hamilton was way down in 11th, after completing long runs on the medium tyres. Nasr and Alonso both got over 100 laps, with trouble-free days. Manor completed just 46 laps but Wehrlein got up to 8th in the times. Red Bull and Renault both had productive days, although their times were fairly slow.

Haas managed to clock 77 laps, despite bringing out the red flag on three occasions. Two of the red flags were due to Grosjean going off the track, with the final red flag, which ended the day, because he stopped on track.
