With a strong lead and just four races remaining, the title is Rosberg’s to lose. The pressure is on Hamilton to perform, desperate to secure another victory and put his title challenge back on track. It is a crucial race for Haas, the first American team to race in F1 for 30 years, and they will be hoping for strong results.
Qualifying
Beating Rosberg by two tenths, Hamilton takes his ninth pole of the season. A strong session for Red Bull allowed them to lock out the second row on the grid, Ricciardo just ahead of Verstappen. Ferrari were disappointed to be unable to challenge Red Bull, instead securing 5th and 6th on the grid.
Race
Taking his 50th grand prix victory, Hamilton cuts his deficit in the championship fight to 26 points with 3 races to go. Ricciardo was on track for second, but a late VSC handed Rosberg a free stop and the position. So the Red Bull driver had to settle for third, ahead of Sebastian Vettel.
