Red Bull reveal the RB13

February 26, 2017

Red Bull have released images of their 2017 challenger online, prior to the first day of testing tomorrow. The only team other than Mercedes to win a race in 2016, many believe Red Bull hold the greatest chance of knocking them off the top this year.

An interesting detail, not seen on any other car, is the hole at the tip of the nose. It is unclear of its exact purpose but it is most likely to channel airflow in order to produce heightened levels of downforce. One of the strongest teams in terms of the aerodynamics, Red Bull should benefit from this year’s regulation changes which increase the importance of aerodynamics.

Last year, one of the biggest issues for Red Bull was the Renault power unit, significantly behind Mercedes in development. If Renault have been able to catch up with their rivals, reducing the performance deficit, then there is certainly a strong chance that Red Bull could challenge for the title this season.

With arguably one of the strongest driver line-ups of any team, Red Bull believe that they can finally end Mercedes time at the top this year and put up a true challenge to the defending champions.
